DOT to Enhance Air Service in Small Communities Across 16 States

The department announces funding to support air services at small airports.

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) announced $14.8 million in funding under the Small Community Air Service Development Program, designed to support regional economies by improving air service options in small communities. These grants will support initiatives that include providing financial incentives for air services, conducting studies on expanded service possibilities, implementing marketing programs to promote existing services, and addressing challenges faced by small airports.

“Air service to small communities is crucial to regional economies, which is why we are proud that these grants will help improve air service in 20 smaller communities across 16 states,” said Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

These grants are intended to enhance connectivity by establishing new air services, restoring lost ones, and creating new routes to make air travel more accessible and affordable for local residents.
